TSS Gyrocompass

Gyro compass is a form of gyroscope, used widely on ships based on the basic physical laws, influences of gravity and the Earth's rotation to find the true north. It is different from normal compass because this kind of compass just provides the magnetic north.

The Meridian Gyrocompass is among common product range which is suitable for the ever-changing needs of the modern bridge system. It provides a heading for ship navigation onboard a variety of vessels and for specific survey vessels requiring high grade accuracy for hydrographic survey.

Due to the Meridian's small size and fast settle time of less than 45 minutes, there are no limits to the type of vessel for which it is suitable.

The Meridian Gyrocompass can be installed as a stand-alone unit or, together with any of the TSS range of repeaters and ancillaries, it becomes a single, dual or triple gyro system. The Meridian can also be used as a retrofit unit.

The Meridian Standard provides a dynamic heading accuracy of 0.30° secant latitude RMS and a static heading accuracy of 0.10° secant latitude RMS. Whereas, the higher performance Meridian Surveyor provides a dynamic heading accuracy of 0.20° secant latitude RMS and a static heading accuracy of 0.05° secant latitude RMS.

Of course, at GSP, we choose Meridian Surveyor type for the best positioning quality for our customers’ projects. We simultaneously proceed several precise calibration steps at port to make sure that the vessel heading is the most authenticity.
